What is Link Building?

Link Building is the method of obtaining hyperlinks to your website from other websites. The goal of link building is to increase the quantity of high-quality inbound links to the web page in order to improve the ranking on Google search results.

Why is link building important?

Link building is important because links are one of the key search engine ranking factors. Search engines, such as Google, look at the quantity of high-quality inbound links on the website when they crawl. The higher the quality of the links the website has, the better the results on SERP (Search Engine Results Page).

What Are Quality Links?

Quality links are links that originate from high-quality sites. This definition will vary depending on the quality of the SEO you’re talking to. Here’s what I’m looking at to determine the quality of a website:

1. The site is a niche, or at least has a regularly updated section on the subject.

2. There are no outbound links to adult, illegal, paid, or scam sites.

3. You’re not going to be able to see that they allow sponsored content (with the exception of clearly marked advertorials).

4. Media kits and publicity sections do not have a price for or mention of text links or backlinks.

5. It’s a positive indication that they’re trustworthy or of high quality in Google’s eyes if you see them in the Google news stream.

6. Staff authors, not contributors, will gain ties. Contributors are more easily purchased, and many major newspapers have started to nofollow their ties. If you Google Huffington Post and nofollow, you’ll find a slew of conversations from the time they made the move.

7. The ties are contained in the body copy. Unlike blog comments, forum mentions, press releases, and other places where anyone can easily create or purchase ties, this has to be won.

Why is link building so hard?

Link building nowadays is more about winning links by outreach and high-quality content than it is about using spammy techniques to fool search engines. Even so, link building (or, if you prefer, link earning) is still a successful technique for growing organic reach and getting discovered.

It can, however, be used to boost traffic as well. Many brands and advertisers, however, are still having trouble executing an effective link-building strategy.

Link Building Strategies

Technological advances have developed a multitude of methods to assist business owners in achieving online performance. The technique to use, on the other hand, is determined by the available capital, target market, and business niche. Businesses in flooded markets, as opposed to less popular ones, need more aggressive link-building strategies to achieve optimal performance.

On that note, regardless of the industry, the following are some techniques that business owners may use to create world-class ties.

Guest Posting

It’s awesome when people write about you and connect back to your website, but only if the links are natural. Stuffing advertising keywords into the anchor text is unnatural and will almost definitely get you into trouble. In this case, using brand keywords or navigational phrases is a reasonable choice.

Skyscraper Technique

The Skyscraper Technique is a method for earning high-quality editorially placed links at scale, based on lessons learnt from other high-performing content assets. This method entails analyzing a good article with backlinks, creating a better piece, and then replicating the backlinks.

  • Find a relevant piece of content with a lot of backlinks.
  • Create something better.
  • Request that those linking to the original piece, link to your superior content instead.

Editorial Outreach and Digital PR

The acquisition of editorial links means contacting journalists and seeking editorial opportunities that may include backlinks of quality. Help A Reporter Out (HARO) is a great way to locate journalists, and guess what – they are searching for you already. It acts as a message board for journalists who need some extra support for their article and can be this extra hand for your brand.

Niche Edits

Niche edits, also known as contextual links, include inserting hyperlinks into previously published material. Unlike guest blogging, where a new article is written, this is not the case.

Since some articles already have traffic, niche edits are a very successful link-building technique. It’s even easier if the article already includes internal and external ties. Affiliate marketers can’t survive without niche edits, and their success is growing by the day.

Internal Link Building is a perfect way to get free connections.

There’s an easy, underappreciated way to create links to the pages you’re trying to rank higher in search engines. And it’s a process over which you have full control- creating internal ties.

The actual text a linking page uses to talk about your content is one of the most important factors search engines consider when rating a page.

The Linking Page’s Quality

The quality of the page that is sending the link is also taken into account; search engines value links from high-quality, trusted pages and sites more than links from unreliable pages and sites.

Page to which the connection is pointed

When people speak about your web, they frequently link to the home page. Individual pages find it difficult to achieve high rankings as a result of their inability to produce their own link equity.

Adding links

It’s called “adding” a link if you can go to a website that doesn’t belong to you and manually put your link there. The following are the most common strategies that fall into this category:

1. Business directory submissions

2. Social profile creation

3. Blog commenting

4. Posting to forums, communities & Q&A sites (Example Quora)

5. Creating job search listings etc.

Link building tools

While it is technically possible to build links with nothing more than your brain and an email account, there are a number of link-building tools that can make the process easier.

Let’s look at four different types of tools that can help you build links:

  • Backlink Research tools
  • Content Research tools
  • Web Monitoring tools
  • Email Outreach tools.

We will soon be talking about the best Link Building Tools in detail. This blog post is all about how to start link building and why it is important for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) . Hope this article has cleared up a lot of your questions about link building.
